How to Draw A Cartoon Robin using gorgeous effects

Step 1

You can start with the creation of this great bird using curved lines with pointed ends. I like to draw the outlines first instead of creating shapes with incorporated lines. I feel like I have more flexibility to create great effects using independent outlines.

Step 2

Next, add shapes filled with plain colors under the outlines that were added in the previous step. The head, the pupil, the wing and the top of the tail can be filled with a dark brown color. The chest can be red and the beak must be orange.

Step 3

When you are ready to proceed, select the gradient fill tool and add a second color to all shapes. For instance, the body can be filled with a bright red color on top and a darker version on the bottom. Using this technique, this cartoon bird already seems to have more depth and volume.

Step 4

Next, draw additional shadows around the eyes, on the beak, on the chest, the tail and the wing. These new shapes must be darker and partially transparent.

Step 5

This is the result so far once all shadows are added to the robin. Let's draw a few additional shapes to create highlights and complete this drawing tutorial.

Step 6

In this step, instead of adding additional darker shapes, let's draw white elements on the head, the pupil, the wing, the body and the tail. All these new shapes are filled with a white color. These elements must also be partially transparent to create a subtle effect.

This cartoon robin is now ready to fly! :)

Nice work! This is the result once all effects are done. This nice animal is relatively easy to achieved if you have some basic knowledge about vector application.
